Senior Survey Manager - Role Overview

A Senior Survey Manager who holds a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license is responsible for leading and managing complex land surveying projects from start to finish. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and client-facing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Planning

Plan and direct survey tasks and resources to ensure successful project completion.

Develop project strategies including scope, budget, and timelines.

Conduct site reconnaissance and route studies for project planning.

Team & Personnel Management

Supervise field and office survey teams, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Mentor junior surveyors and provide technical guidance.

Coordinate weekly crew schedules and equipment needs.

Technical Execution

Conduct and oversee boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.

Ensure data accuracy and compliance with legal and industry standards.

Perform QA/QC inspections of field survey activities.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Liaise with clients to define project objectives and deliverables.

Prepare and present professional service proposals and progress reports.

Regulatory & Legal Compliance

Verify survey data and ensure it meets legal and regulatory standards.

Write legal descriptions for deeds, leases, and other documents.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.

Licensure: Active PLS or RLS certification is required.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in surveying, with proven project management experience.

Skills:

Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, Trimble, and other surveying software.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Deep understanding of land use laws and surveying standards
