The Role
A well‑established, employee‑owned consulting firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Arizona PE) to provide technical leadership and project oversight on municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role offers a blend of hands‑on electrical and controls design, project management, and client‑facing leadership, with ownership of projects from planning through construction and commissioning.
Candidates not currently based in Tucson are encouraged to apply, as relocation assistance can be provided for individuals open to moving to the area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical and I&C design efforts for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, wells, and related facilities
- Provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through construction support
- Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedules
- Lead and mentor project teams, supporting the development of junior engineers
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to municipal clients, supporting long‑term relationships
- Collaborate closely with operators, contractors, and internal teams to ensure designs are practical, constructible, and maintainable
- Contribute to business development activities and client engagement
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a collaborative electrical engineering professional who enjoys balancing technical depth with leadership responsibility. They communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, are comfortable managing multiple priorities, and take pride in delivering high‑quality, real‑world solutions. A strong interest in mentoring others and contributing to team growth is essential.
Typical experience includes:
- Electrical design for municipal water and wastewater facilities
- Power distribution systems, MCCs, and standby power
- Instrumentation & Controls, including PLCs and SCADA integration
- Coordination with operations staff and contractors to support constructible, operable designs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering design and construction projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Arizona
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, depending on project needs
