An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Staff Trenchless Engineer to join my client's team in Springfield, MO. This role offers a clear path for career progression and the chance to gain hands-on experience across both pipeline and transportation projects. The team places a strong emphasis on internal development and mentoring future technical leaders.

You'll spend a significant portion of your time in the field, developing a deep understanding of site conditions and construction practices. As your experience grows, you'll apply that knowledge to the engineering and design of trenchless pipeline and transportation systems. The role involves approximately 50% regional and national travel.


Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute geotechnical subsurface investigations to assess soil conditions.
  • Conduct site reconnaissance and document existing conditions.
  • Prepare field reports and perform geotechnical analyses, including slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, foundation design, and seismic evaluation.
  • Observe trenchless construction activities and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Perform trenchless design calculations, including pipe stress and installation force analysis using proprietary software.
  • Collaborate with CAD designers to develop design plans.
  • Assist in writing technical reports and contribute to proposals.
  • Provide support to geotechnical teams at other locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree with geotechnical emphasis preferred.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and professional-level communication abilities.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and at least one year of driving experience (international experience may be considered).
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Physical and Safety Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform a range of physical tasks.
  • Comfortable working at a computer for extended periods.
  • Participation in background checks, drug/alcohol testing, and a medical surveillance program is required.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, including hazard identification, use of appropriate PPE, and completion of required health and safety training.

Compensation

Estimated salary range: $69,700 - $94,300 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
