We're currently seeking a Remote Substation Estimator to join our growing team and contribute to our mission of powering the future.


Position Overview

As a Substation Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for substation construction and upgrade projects. This role requires a deep understanding of substation construction, materials, labor, and equipment costs. You'll collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to develop detailed cost proposals and support business development efforts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for high-voltage substation projects (new builds, expansions, and retrofits).

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.

  • Review and interpret technical documents including one-lines, schematics, site plans, and material lists.

  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and procurement teams to gather necessary information.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, labor rates, and material pricing.

  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitiveness and compliance.

  • Participate in bid reviews and contribute to strategy for competitive proposals.

  • Maintain historical cost data for benchmarking and future use.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience estimating in the power delivery or substation construction industry.

  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems (up to 500kV preferred).

  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., InEight, Sage Estimating, Accubid) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with project bidding in both public and private sector utility environments.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and technical specifications.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
