Superintendent - Data Centers
A leading global infrastructure and general contracting firm is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to oversee field operations on large‑scale data center and mission critical construction projects. This role provides day‑to‑day leadership of site execution, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in strict accordance with schedule, quality, and technical requirements.
The Senior Superintendent serves as the senior on‑site authority, coordinating multidisciplinary trade partners, managing complex logistics, and driving high‑performance execution in fast‑track, highly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Execution
- Serve as the lead on‑site construction authority for major data center projects or multi‑building campus developments.
- Direct all field operations from mobilization through commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
- Lead, coach, and manage superintendents, field engineers, and craft support personnel.
- Set expectations for productivity, quality, and accountability across all site teams.
Safety Leadership
- Champion a world‑class safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety policies, regulations, and client standards.
- Lead daily site safety activities including toolbox talks, job hazard analyses, and safety walks.
- Proactively identify and eliminate unsafe conditions and behaviors, reinforcing zero‑incident objectives.
Schedule & Phasing Management
- Develop and maintain detailed site logistics plans, phasing strategies, and short‑interval schedules.
- Coordinate sequencing of CSA, MEP, and vendor scopes to support critical path milestones.
- Drive schedule adherence in fast‑track environments with overlapping design, procurement, and construction activities.
Trade & Subcontractor Coordination
- Lead coordination of multiple specialty subcontractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers.
- Enforce contract scope, quality standards, and schedule commitments at the field level.
- Resolve field conflicts related to access, layout, constructability, and trade stacking.
Quality Control & Technical Oversight
- Ensure all work meets project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
- Oversee installation of critical building systems, including structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and life safety components.
- Partner with project management and design teams to resolve constructability and technical challenges.
- Support testing, commissioning, and integrated systems startup for mission‑critical facilities.
Logistics & Site Management
- Manage complex site logistics including laydown areas, crane plans, material deliveries, and restricted access requirements.
- Coordinate work in secure, live, or concurrently occupied environments where applicable.
- Enforce site cleanliness, organization, and professional standards.
Communication & Collaboration
- Act as the primary field liaison with project management, design teams, inspectors, and client representatives.
- Participate in progress meetings, look‑ahead planning sessions, and risk reviews.
- Provide clear, proactive communication on site conditions, schedule impacts, and execution risks.
