Transportation EIT
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join their Transportation team with a focus on highway design and planning. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to contribute to impactful infrastructure projects while gaining valuable experience under the guidance of licensed professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design and development of highway and roadway projects, including geometric layout, traffic control plans, and pavement design.
- Assist in preparing construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Conduct field investigations and site visits to support design and construction phases.
- Perform engineering calculations and utilize design software such as Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads.
- Contribute to technical reports, feasibility studies, and environmental documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic, drainage, and structural engineers.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and guidelines (e.g., AASHTO, MUTCD, state DOT requirements).
- Participate in client meetings and coordinate with contractors and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 0-3 years of experience in transportation or highway engineering.
- Familiarity with roadway design standards and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering design software.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Internship or co-op experience in highway or transportation engineering.
- Knowledge of local DOT standards (e.g., TxDOT for Texas-based roles).
- Experience with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro or HCS is a plus.
