Transportation Practice Lead
Our client, a regional engineering firm, is seeking a Transportation Practice Lead to oversee transportation engineering operations and strategy across Michigan. This is a great opportunity for a senior transportation professional with 10+ years of experience who is ready to lead a practice area, drive business growth, and mentor a high-performing team.
The Transportation Practice Lead will be responsible for:
- Leading the transportation practice across multiple offices and markets
- Developing and executing strategic growth plans for transportation services
- Building and maintaining relationships with MDOT, municipalities, and private clients
- Overseeing project delivery, quality control, and technical excellence
- Managing budgets, staffing, and resource allocation
- Supporting business development, proposals, and client presentations
- Mentoring project managers and technical staff
- Collaborating with other practice leads and executive leadership
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 10 years of transportation engineering experience
- Proven leadership in managing teams and delivering complex projects
- Strong knowledge of MDOT standards and procedures
- Experience with roadway design, traffic studies, and transportation planning
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan (or ability to obtain)
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and business development skills
- Ability to lead collaboratively and foster a positive team culture
