Our Client is looking for a dynamic Civil Engineering Department Manager and a Land Development Director based out of their NYC or Long Island offices to establish and lead our civil engineering operations across the city's 5 boroughs. The role includes devising strategic plans, managing projects, and developing staff for the successful operation of the department.
The ideal candidate will offer civil engineering project management expertise, business development acumen, and exceptional client relationship skills. They will coordinate key civil engineering services within the office and play a pivotal role in expanding our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the NYC Civil Engineering team
- Design an effective departmental structure for diverse markets
- Manage multidisciplinary projects from due diligence/site feasibility studies through to regulatory approvals and permitting
- Oversee site layout and design
- Secure permit approvals from NYC reviewing agencies
- Ensure timely, cost-effective, high-quality technical deliverables
- Coordinate with other firm departments
- Establish and meet financial performance goals with firm management
- Work with the NYC Office Director and the firm's Market Leaders to plan the growth of civil engineering work
- Build and maintain client relationships in support of project activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and PE License
- 15+ years of leadership, project management, and client management experience
- Well-known in the municipal and private sector marketplace
- Strong client and business management skills with a proven track record in profitable business unit growth
- Significant design experience with a specific focus on site development projects
- Proficiency in municipal engineering principles and related technical areas
- Familiarity with various NYC agency permit processes and with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Autoturn, MS Office suite, and hydrology & hydraulics software packages
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
