The client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Manager to oversee the construction of data center facilities in Japan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, particularly within the high-tech or data center industry, and possess the ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion. This role requires excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of data center construction projects. Ensure all phases of construction are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to specifications.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors and construction teams. Foster a collaborative environment to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial reporting are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of construction are achieved. Conduct regular site inspections and address any issues promptly.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and industry standards. Promote a safe working environment for all site personnel.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders. Provide regular project updates and address any concerns.
- Contract Management: Oversee contract negotiations, manage contract compliance, and resolve any contractual issues that arise during the project.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project delivery.
- Documentation: Maintain thorough project documentation, including schedules, budgets, progress reports, and change orders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of construction management experience, with at least 3 years in the data center or high-tech infrastructure sector.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and familiar with BIM technology.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English and Japanese, both written and verbal.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Japanese building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and handle high-pressure situations.

- Experience working in an international environment and managing multicultural teams.
- Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and energy-efficient technologies.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to various project sites across Japan.
