Job Summary for Construction Site Manager: The Construction Site Manager will oversee construction activities for renewable energy and transmission projects, from mobilization through commissioning and project handover. This role involves coordinating and consulting with internal teams such as development, engineering, and asset management, as well as external stakeholders including lenders, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and permitting authorities. The ideal candidate can have: Utility Scale Solar or BESS, as well as C&I Solar or BESS experience.
Job Functions of Construction Site Manager: Responsibilities of the Construction Site Manager include:
- Acting as the Owner's site representative, reporting directly to the Project Manager.
- Assisting in defining work scopes and project execution plans.
- Coordinating and facilitating activities among the Balance of Plant (BOP) contractor, substation contractor, and procurement of Owner Supplied Equipment.
- Conducting audits of construction documents to ensure compliance with the latest revisions.
- Compiling and submitting daily progress reports based on input from site personnel.
- Reviewing Requests for Information (RFIs), responses, and discussing any cost or schedule impacts with the Project Manager.
- Assisting the Project Manager in reviewing contractor change order requests.
- Managing project schedules, monitoring progress, and reporting on milestones.
- Identifying and mitigating engineering and construction risks.
- Attending project meetings to provide updates on progress and address issues as they arise.
- Reviewing non conformance reports and ensuring appropriate submission in project control software.
- Ensuring compliance with project permits and agreements.
- Supervising field staff and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the project's status, intervening as necessary to resolve discrepancies and recommending adjustments to plans and procedures.
- Maintaining a full-time presence at the project site, capable of navigating varied terrain.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Construction Site Manager:
- Demonstrated experience in construction management, particularly in leadership roles.
- Experienced in managing multiple preconstruction and construction disciplines.
- Strong project management skills with proficiency in reading and interpreting contracts and engineering drawings.
- Experience in scope development, change management, project scheduling, and critical path management.
- Familiarity with work breakdown structures, project controls, cost reporting, forecasting, and change order management.
- Ability to identify and manage project risks effectively.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and reporting.
- Understanding of project permitting processes and entitlements such as land use, easements, and rights-of-way.
- Relationship Builder with excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Primavera, and Google Earth.
