Our client, an international leader in renewable energy, is expanding its operations in Korea. With a strong presence across the Asia-Pacific region, our client specializes in utility-scale solar projects, including ground-mounted solar installations. We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Country Manager to lead business development and project execution efforts in Korea.
Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Identify and develop new business opportunities in the utility-scale solar sector. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, local partners, and industry associations. Develop strategic plans to achieve market penetration and growth objectives.
- Project Development: Lead the development of solar projects from inception to completion, including site selection, feasibility studies, and securing financing. Oversee the project design and engineering processes, ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry standards. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project execution.
- Land Acquisition: Identify and negotiate land acquisition agreements for solar project development. Ensure all land acquisition activities comply with local laws and regulations. Develop and maintain relationships with landowners and local communities to facilitate project development.
- Permitting: Secure all necessary permits and approvals from local, regional, and national authorities. Coordinate with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with environmental, construction, and operational regulations. Address any permitting issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders in Korea. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings with regulatory agencies. Communicate project progress and milestones to internal and external stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team to support project development and execution. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor and analyze market trends, policy developments, and competitor activities. Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in business development, project development, or a related role within the renewable energy sector, specifically in utility-scale solar projects.
- Proven track record in land acquisition, permitting, and project execution in Korea.
- Strong understanding of the Korean regulatory landscape for renewable energy projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in Korean and proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support project activities.
