Reporting to the General Manager of Technical Services at the company's Asia division, the Deputy General Manager will assume responsibility for overseeing the operation and maintenance of power plants and asset management activities in the Asian region. This role will play a crucial part in advancing the company's mission and vision.
The Deputy General Manager of Technical Services will also be involved in technical coordination, offering guidance, and conducting due diligence for business development initiatives. Additionally, they will provide technical support and project execution assistance, as well as safety and risk management consultancy services for the company's assets in the Asia region, including platform companies and projects.
This role requires close collaboration with various functions, including overseas divisions of the company's headquarters, such as O&M engineering, business development, EPC, and Owner's Engineer.
The individual in this position will work closely with the General Manager to prioritize projects and optimize their value. They will also provide instruction and guidance to junior staff members in the division to ensure the effective execution of their assigned tasks.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with and lead the company's platform company in the Asian region, working alongside junior staff members in the division to support the effective operation and maintenance of existing properties.
Assist the Business Development team and Solution Services team by offering technical expertise when evaluating new project opportunities. This includes conducting technical due diligence, reviewing the O&M portion of financial models, and providing technical support during discussions with EPC contractors and owner's engineers.
Review, comment on, and administer Long Term Service Agreements (LTSA) to ensure the sustainable operation of Asian investee companies and ongoing projects.
Serve as a point of contact for Technical Service Agreements (TSA) signed between Asian investee companies and the company. Expand the scope of TSA and acquire new agreements through communication with Asian investee companies and operating companies currently under negotiation.
Collaborate with the company's headquarters to analyze and provide solutions and recommendations for issues and incidents related to the operation and maintenance of power plants that have TSA agreements with the company.
Act as a liaison for technical matters between Asian investee companies and the company's headquarters, even in the absence of TSA agreements.
Support engineers deployed to Asian investee company sites to ensure their effective work and communication with the relevant departments at the company's headquarters and the Asia division.
Provide safety and risk management consultancy for business development initiatives and existing assets within the Asian region.
Participate in day-to-day meetings involving Asian investee companies, construction sites, and the company's headquarters to contribute to asset management and offer technical support.
Support the overseas promotion of solution businesses by the Solution Services team from an O&M perspective.
Support overseas sales of zero emission and decarbonization businesses by the Zero Emission team from an O&M perspective.
Requirements:
In-depth knowledge of power markets, policies, regulations, vendors, consultancy service providers, and power economics in Asia.
Demonstrated initiative in unstructured environments.
Deep understanding of value creation in energy power assets and markets in the region.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, and collaboration skills within large organizations and with various external stakeholders.
Ability to interpret various contract documents such as EPC contracts, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), Fuel Supply Agreements (FSA), Shareholder Agreements (SHA), and Long Term Service Agreements (LTSA).
Experience in negotiating and executing key project technical documents related to the development, construction, and operation of energy assets, such as tender RFQs, EPC contracts, and LTSAs.
Strong ability to identify potential risks and unsafe conditions in activities, as well as the capacity to create safe procedures and provide instructions.
Proficiency in summarizing complex issues and opportunities into concise and actionable terms.
Effective task prioritization skills to align with objectives and manage competing deadlines.
Exceptional organizational, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills in English.
Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and hard-working with high standards for oneself and others.
