With more than 125 solar energy projects and over 500MW total generating capacity, they have invested over $1.5 billion in the US clean energy sector. Seeking an experienced Development Engineer to support design engineering and project development for distributed utility-scale photovoltaic and storage projects (2-20 MW) across various U.S. regions. The candidate will be responsible for creating preliminary site plans, single line diagrams, energy models, reviewing interconnection applications, and performing value engineering. Experience with photovoltaic system design and tools like AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVCase, and PVSYST is essential.
The role is hybrid, based out of the Jersey City, NJ office (Tues, Wed, Thurs).
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide technical evaluations for new business opportunities.
- Create preliminary PV site layouts and electricity production models using Helioscope and PVSYST.
- Perform desktop and field site assessments to evaluate site viability, capacity, and production.
- Draft single line diagrams and drawing sets for development and permitting using AutoCAD and PVCase.
- Collaborate with project managers on design and constructability reviews.
- Support project financing, accounting efforts, and the procurement process.
- Assist with initial site plan analysis, system sizing, and submission of interconnection applications.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
- 2+ years of progressive design engineering experience with Distributed Generation Ground Mounted Photovoltaic Solar Farms or Solar PV+BESS projects.
- Proficiency in Helioscope, AutoCAD, and PVSYST.
- Strong mathematical skills and understanding of financial concepts.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of electrical principles and the National Electric Code.
- Experience with 3-phase power and utility interconnection processes.
NABCEP Certification, PV+BESS experience, and OSHA 10 certification are a plus.
