Job Title: Distribution Planning Engineer

Position Overview: We, as the recruiting team representing this utility company, are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Distribution Planning Engineer to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and optimizing the distribution network to ensure the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity to our customers. This is an in-person role that requires regular on-site visits to assess infrastructure, collaborate with field teams, and address any operational challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site assessments of distribution infrastructure to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Develop short-term and long-term distribution plans to accommodate growth, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with field teams, including technicians and construction crews, to implement distribution plans effectively and efficiently.
- Perform load flow, voltage drop, and other analyses using engineering software to assess the performance of the distribution network.
- Evaluate the impact of distributed generation, renewable energy sources, and new technologies on the distribution system.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and local authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Provide technical expertise and support to internal stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, and customer service teams.
- Participate in cross-functional teams and projects to improve processes, enhance reliability, and optimize costs.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in distribution planning and electrical engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution planning, electrical engineering, or related field within the utility industry.
- Proficiency in distribution system analysis software such as CYME, Milsoft, or ETAP.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in a regulated utility environment is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
Location: This is an in-person role based at our [Location] office. Regular travel to various field locations within the service territory is required.
