We are seeking an Electrical Designer/Drafter in our Kalamazoo, MI office.
Job Summary:
The Electrical Designer/Drafter will be responsible for computer-aided design in support of the Electrical Engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Assists electrical engineers by producing construction drawings using AutoDesk Revit.
- Models electrical systems in 3 dimensions including power systems, lighting systems, fire alarm, access control, and security systems.
- Prepares 2-dimensional construction details for electrical system designs including power distribution One-Line Diagrams, wiring diagrams, and details.
- Models lighting systems in photometric software to design general and emergency lighting systems for commercial buildings.
- Assists with basic electrical engineering calculations with oversight of a lead project engineer.
- Assists with field measurements and documentation by attending site visits to current or prospective job sites. Photograph existing conditions and take legible field notes.
- Maintains the electrical drafting standards and library of standard drawing symbols.
- Provides additional support to other departments as needed.
Education:
- Associate degree in technical design, computer-aided drafting, building design, or construction-related activities.
- Degree focused on electrical systems design and construction preferred.
Work Experience/Qualifications:
- Solid computer-aided drafting skills required.
- Experience working with AutoCAD, Revit and other 3D modeling software preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems design.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and with teams.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to keep commitments and meet deadlines.
