Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Energy Market Consultant to join a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Resource Planning, with expertise in software applications such as PROMOD and PLEXOS. Additionally, a key advantage would be familiarity with a diverse range of Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs).
Responsibilities:
- Resource Planning: Develop, implement, and optimize resource planning strategies to ensure efficient utilization of energy resources.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize and master resource planning software, particularly PROMOD and PLEXOS, to model, simulate, and analyze various scenarios.
- Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to energy markets, load forecasting, and generation capacity to inform resource planning decisions.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, analysts, and stakeholders, to align resource planning strategies with overall business goals.
- RTO/ISO Expertise: Stay abreast of industry trends and regulations, with a focus on understanding the operations of different RTOs and ISOs. Provide insights and recommendations based on this knowledge.
- Modeling and Simulation: Create and run models to simulate different scenarios for capacity expansion, generation mix, and other relevant factors.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in resource planning and develop mitigation strategies to ensure reliable and cost-effective energy supply.
- Client Consultation: Work closely with clients to understand their specific requirements, provide expert advice, and deliver customized resource planning solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, or a related discipline. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in resource planning, preferably within the energy industry.
- Expertise in resource planning software, particularly PROMOD and PLEXOS. Proficiency in power flow software such as PSS/E and TARA would also be preferred.
- Familiarity with a variety of RTOs and ISOs, understanding their market structures, rules, and regulatory environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
