My client is a full-service, employee-owned environmental consulting firm looking for environmental compliance professionals to join their team in the Bay Area.
Responsibilities:
- Manage compliance and tracking systems for permitting across industrial and commercial sites, ensuring adherence to regulations such as RCRA, TSCA, and NPDES.
- Document compliance with ISO certifications and oversee audits for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards, implementing corrective actions as needed to meet federal, state, and local requirements.
- Administer hazardous and non-hazardous waste stream compliance systems at various facilities.
- Develop, evaluate, implement, and enhance written EHS programs (e.g., OSHA standards) covering areas like hazard communication, hearing conservation, lockout/tag-out, respiratory protection, electrical safety, confined space entry, fall protection, welding/burning safety, powered industrial trucks, safe work permits, contractor safety, material handling, personal protective equipment, blood-borne pathogens, and ergonomics.
- Support the expansion of client-facing EHS compliance practices by delivering high-quality written communications, fostering client relationships, and identifying opportunities for additional services.
- Prepare concise, effective documents and presentations that clearly communicate complex technical issues to diverse audiences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude, with at least two years of experience in engineering, geology, or a related technical role involving environment, health, and safety compliance. Entry-level candidates are welcome.
- Preferred qualifications include OSHA HAZWOPER training, but it is not required.
- Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two years of experience with Six Sigma and Quality Management System standards (e.g., ISO-9001, TS-16949).
- Preferred candidates should possess 3-5 years of hands-on experience with environmental compliance programs, including knowledge of regulations such as the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) rule, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or "Superfund"), and Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations Permits (CAFO).
- A Master's degree in a related field can substitute for up to two years of practical experience.
- Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain medical clearance for hazardous waste site work, lift 35 pounds, and work 10-hour days as needed.
