Job Title: Chief Estimator - Heavy Civil Marine

Job Description: As the Chief Estimator for Heavy Civil Marine projects, you will lead our estimating team in accurately assessing the costs associated with marine construction projects. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the competitiveness and profitability of our bids by providing accurate and strategic estimates. This position demands a deep understanding of heavy civil marine construction, exceptional analytical skills, and effective leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the estimating team in preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil marine construction projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant information for accurate estimating.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand project scope, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals, considering labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs.
- Evaluate and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best value for the company.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project costs.
- Provide input into the development of project budgets and work closely with project teams during the pre-construction phase.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Should have 5+ years experience in heavy civil/marine construction
- Strong understanding of marine construction techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency in HCSS estimating system
- Experience estimating JV projects
- Experience estimating $100 MM +/- project size
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
- Leadership experience and the ability to mentor and develop a team.
