A leading system integration company in Dallas TX is looking for a Controls MES Engineer to join their ever growing Controls department. This role is dedicated to delivering business intelligence services, developing BI software, and creating Power BI reports using our Control Systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Microsoft Power BI platforms. The engineer will support controls and automation projects by implementing and upgrading Control System MES functionalities across all facilities.
Key responsibilities include research, application development, documentation, training, troubleshooting, and maintenance in the following areas:
- AVEVA/Wonderware's ArchestrA Control System: Graphics, troubleshooting, objects, scripts, and MES applications for operational needs
- Microsoft Visual Studio C#: Modify and/or create applications
- AVEVA MES Modules: Operations, Performance, and Quality
- AVEVA Work Tasks BPM Software
- Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS): Based on AVEVA MES modules
- AVEVA BI Gateway: Data consolidation and aggregation, data warehouse functionality
- Rockwell PLCs: Integration for MES data and functionality
- Microsoft Power BI Platforms: Report Server (on-premises) and Power Platform (cloud-based)
- Power BI Development: Data modeling, reports, dashboards, and infrastructure
- Report Migration: SSRS and Tableau to Power BI
- Data Integration: Feeds to external partners using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (2019+)
- Microsoft Servers and SQL Systems: Including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Excel
- Business Requirement Gathering: For data visualization and analysis
- Data Collaboration: Working with engineers and analysts to acquire, clean, and transform data
- DAX Calculations: Creation of complex calculations and measures
- Data Security and Compliance: Ensure best practices
Skills and Experience Requirements
Ideal candidates will have:
Industry Experience:
- 7+ years in a controls and automation engineering role within the food & beverage, consumer goods, or similar industries
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in ladder logic programming with Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix)
- Advanced HMI development skills, preferably with Wonderware (AVEVA) ArchestrA System Platform
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio C#
- Expertise with Microsoft Servers, SQL Server, and SQL database systems
- Proficiency with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Excel
- Experience with Ethernet/IP communication within a plant control system
- Ability to write, update, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with AVEVA MES or a similar MES platform
- Experience in .NET programming environment
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI Report Server and Power BI Power Platform
- Proficiency in Power BI development, including data modeling, reports, and dashboards
- Proficiency in Tableau
- Strong understanding of data modeling and visualization concepts
- Knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) and data warehouse concepts
