Job Description:
As a Principal Substation Engineer or Designer, you will contribute to the design and implementation of electrical substation projects (physical and/or protection & control focused). Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, you'll ensure compliance with standards, optimize system performance, and drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Substation &/or P&C Design: Develop layouts, equipment specifications, and drawings for efficient and reliable medium to extra high voltage utility substations.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, incorporating industry best practices.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers and stakeholders to integrate various design aspects and ensure project cohesion.
Project Support: Provide technical expertise throughout project lifecycles, addressing design challenges and contributing to timelines.
Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to validate designs, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and actively seek process enhancement opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus.
- Experience in 15kV through 230kV substation design
- Ability to commute into the office on a hybrid schedule (office located in Minneapolis)
- 5+ years working on substation design or protection and control design projects
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
