Position: Mechanical Engineer (Healthcare) - Full-Time
Location: Boston, MA
Primary Function:
Lead the design and technical systems for large-scale, complex projects from initial schematics to construction administration.
Key Responsibilities - Project-Related:
- Develop building system concepts and manage documentation from schematics through construction phases.
- Serve as Discipline Team Leader on major projects, overseeing team members in your discipline.
- Prepare and track project status reports, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives.
- Conduct and document necessary code research.
- Contribute to project cost models and ensure design adheres to budgetary guidelines.
- Maintain the Mechanical Basis of Design Journal throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform material and product research to support project development.
- Attend project meetings and collaborate with other discipline leaders.
- Address client inquiries within 24 hours.
- Review and interpret documentation during bidding and construction phases.
- Ensure team delivers high-quality architectural and engineering services.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Key Responsibilities - Non-Project-Related:
- Mentor junior engineers to help them grow into greater project responsibilities.
- Provide performance feedback to supervisors on junior staff.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improving service quality and efficiency.
- Participate in internal training and professional development activities.
- Engage in industry-related organizations and contribute to professional activities.
- Recognize and commend staff for exceptional work or contributions beyond expectations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with professional licensure required.
- LEED Accreditation preferred.
- At least six years of experience in the architecture/engineering industry preferred.
- Strong expertise in professional services from schematic design to project close-out.
- Solid understanding of coordination across design disciplines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CADD) and other relevant software.
- Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, flexible, and enthusiastic.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and collaborate effectively with others.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel to project sites and attend meetings as necessary.
- Capable of accessing and evaluating project sites for assessments.
- Competent in using equipment for communication and documentation purposes.
