An Engineering & Design firm leading the energy transition for Fortune 500 companies is seeking a Sr. Project Manager to help support projects related to renewable energy. To be considered for this position, you must have a strong technical background with working knowledge of compressors, pressure vessels, and gas dryers to efficiency present technical insights to stakeholders. In addition, you must have experience executing multiple projects (this includes organization, planning, financial management, and stakeholder comms).
Senior Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Support the expansion of our alternative energy services department.
- Oversee key client relationships.
- Handle sales and proposal management.
- Provide technical leadership and manage projects related to alternative fueling and permitting.
- Identify specific project requirements based on the client's risk management profile, industry standards, existing guidelines, regulations, best practices, and lessons learned to ensure an efficient permitting strategy.
- Coordinate and review technical documents for regulatory submissions.
- Manage tasks and projects, including developing proposals, managing projects and budgets, communicating proactively and clearly with clients, stakeholders, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and internal staff.
- Oversee technical project work from feasibility (site investigation reports and preliminary site plan development) through pre-commissioning, which involves managing the design, entitlement, construction document development, permitting, and construction processes.
- Oversee project close-out activities, including distributing close-out materials, facilitating prompt punch list final sign-off, and completing and resolving all contract paperwork for final client acceptance.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, providing timely and responsive solutions to client concerns to ensure repeat business, managing client expectations, and translating stakeholder requirements into client deliverables.
- Collaborate with all involved disciplines and support staff by preparing or delegating estimated staffing requirements, schedules, and other relevant data, preparing fee proposals, and conducting fee and contract negotiations.
- Manage subconsultants, including sourcing, directing activities, and ensuring accurate, timely, and within-budget deliverables.
- Be directly responsible for budget management, billing processes, client billing collections, and other operational and financial matters. Ensure clients are financially responsible for out-of-scope work before engaging resources.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, work rules, and processes, and perform other assigned duties.
- Advance identification of potential technical/execution risks and develop schedule and budget conscience alternatives.
- Pro-active and continuous communication and reporting on project progress to client and internal leadership.
- Timely and accurate processing of RFIs, Submittals and Change Orders and other job-related documentation.
- Managing QA / QC on projects with a systematic approach.
Senior Project Manager Requirements:
- Must be able to understand and interpret contract documents, engineering documents, specifications, addendums, and related materials.
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills with accuracy and thoroughness in your work.
- Be highly organized, capable of managing and coordinating project information and documents effectively.
- Engage clients with well-articulated proposals and presentations.
- Be self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency.
- Possess general computer skills and proficiency with standard office software.
- Have a functioning vehicle, a valid CA driver's license, and insurance.
- Demonstrated increasing competency throughout your project management career.
- Possess technical/professional expertise with a minimum of 6-10 years of project management experience, including at least 4 years in an engineering consulting environment, specifically in hydrogen and/or electrical fields.
- Required: B.S. or M.S. degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; a technical degree (e.g., Electrical, Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, etc.) is preferred.
- Required experience with the design process from concept, schematics, design development, construction documentation, permitting, bid phase, construction administration, and project close-out.
- Required knowledge of design and construction methods.
- Preferred: PMP Certification.
- Preferred: Comprehensive understanding of building codes and their application to architectural and engineering construction drawings.
