We have a current opportunity for a Substation Physical Engineer to join our National Substation Engineering Team. This role is 100% remote flexible.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a range of substation projects, from simple to complex, by collaborating with cross-functional teams. Tasks include scope estimation, proposal development, detailed design, equipment procurement, project bidding, and providing construction support for energization.
- Create detailed physical design drawings, such as General Arrangement, Elevations, Equipment Connection Details, Grounding Plans, Conduit Plans, Control Building Layouts, Foundation Plans, and material lists.
- Conduct various studies and calculations essential for substation design, including grounding, lightning protection, battery bank sizing, conduit fill, substation sizing, and AC & DC substation studies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, with plans to obtain PE licensure within 2 years.
- 2-4+ years of experience in physical substation engineering related to electrical power substation design for Coops, Municipalities, and/or IOUs. (Experience may be evaluated for a higher level position based on qualifications.)
- Preferred experience with CDEGS ground grid design software and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with standard substation design codes, including IEEE codes and guides, RUS substation design guide, and NESC.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% within the continental U.S. when needed.
