This surveyor will work on multiple projects on a broad range of project types. For this position the Survey Manager applies knowledge of surveying principles and techniques in a broad area of land and construction surveying.
The Survey Manger is responsible for maintaining files of surveys and plats, makes independent decisions on surveying problems and methods. Manages survey crews and is responsible for assignment and coordination of survey operations. Represents the firm on Client conferences and written communications. Prepares survey proposals.
Responsibilities include:
- Schedules survey crews and office personnel
- Reviews final legal descriptions, survey plats, design surveys, and field notes reductions for accuracy and completeness
- Trains personnel
- Sets standards for survey department
- Performs or directs computations for control surveys, subdivision of sections, boundary surveys and easements
- Makes analysis of documentary and physical evidence
- Writes and reviews legal descriptions
- Promotes work and assists with survey proposal preparation
- Assists with client conferences
- Seals (PLS) plats, legal descriptions, and ALTA Surveys
- Prepare reports and correspondence with agencies and clients
- Estimates staffing and survey equipment needs and schedules
- Provides periodic field observations during survey
- Other duties as assigned
Qualified candidates will have:
- Professional Land Surveyors license (PLS, RPLS)
- Ability to deal with clients on a regular basis
- Ability to do advanced GPS and survey calculations
- Minimum 6 years surveying experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage survey staff
- Manages survey projects in a profitable manner
- Experience in work in both the field and office
- Bachelor's degree or Associate degree in surveying or civil engineering technology
