Position Objective
To effectively, efficiently and proactively undertake a town planning related duties on a range of projects, both on site and office as required. Reporting Structure This position reports directly to the Planning Manager.
Principal Duties
* Undertake the town planning tasks for projects, both in the office and on site as required. * Providing town planning services which are fit for purpose, practical, cost effective, comply with relevant design and regulatory standards, and comply with WHS and Quality Control requirements.
* Undertake and assist in the preparation of quotations, Tenders and Bills of Quantities.
* Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, policies and regulations associated with urban development and town planning.
* Lodging of development applications, construction certificates, subdivision certificates, service authority approvals and other applications with Council and State Government agencies as required.
* Liaising with clients and attending client meetings where required.
* Proactively plan, manage, coordinate, track and run assigned projects tasks.
* Manage assigned projects in terms of resourcing, budget, quality, and output to maximise both the time and cost outcomes for the Company and client.
* Plan, manage, track projects and proactively manage project billings, invoicing, scope changes, claims and variations. * Provide regular project reviews and reporting to the Planning Manager and/or Directors as required.
* Conduct thorough self-checking and the checking of information, drawings and documentation undertaken by others. * Liaising, coordinating and management of clients, subconsultants and contractors.
* Assign and check work of technical staff assigned to work on a project.
* Undertake and assist in business development.
* Foster relationships with key clients, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and government.
* Ensure all project activities are conducted in accordance with the company's systems, policies and procedures.
* Provide technical advice to management, staff and clients.
* Undertake other tasks as delegated by the Planning Manager and/or Directors.
Key Skills and Experience
Qualifications
* University Degree in Planning / Town Planning or equivalent, recognised by The Planning Institute of Australia.
* Membership or ability to obtain membership with The Planning Institute of Australia.
* SafeWork Site Induction Training Card.
* Class C NSW Drivers Licence.
Experience and Skill Level Required
* At least 4+ years previous town planning experience within a consultancy or local government, or equivalent.
* Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office and databases.
* Good planning and/or project management skills.
