Transmission Planning Engineer - Mid Level (multiple levels available)

Roles and Responsibilities
This role requires significant experience in network studies for utilities and ISOs with the ability to lead others in this work as well. This individual will be responsible for interfacing with other engineers in the preparation of computer-based models and performing power system studies on utility transmission & distribution systems and industrial/commercial electrical power systems.
Work includes feasibility studies, system impact studies, reactive compensation studies, critical clearing time, stability (transient & dynamic), long/short range planning studies, short circuit, load flow, interconnection model development, power factor correction, and other related studies.
Required Education/Experience
* Requires a BSEE
- MSEE or PhD is a plus
* Five (5) + years of experience in transmission planning system studies
* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills including writing proposals, reports, and additional technical communication as needed
* Minimum three (3) years of experience with PSS/E
- 5 + years experience is a plus
* Experience with leading projects and mentoring others
* Familiarity with ERCOT, its interconnection processes, and its system impact study requirements
* Ability to work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment
Desired Education/Experience
- PE registration is a plus
- Additional desirable software: PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, Aspen Oneliner, ETAP, Power World and others as applicable
- Familiarity with additional RTOs regarding interconnection process and system impact studies
