Position Overview
The organization is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead project delivery across the Huntsville region.
This role combines advanced geotechnical design expertise with project and team leadership, covering the full lifecycle from proposal and site investigation through analysis, reporting, and construction support. You will act as a technical authority, ensuring the delivery of efficient, technically sound, and cost-effective ground engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical projects from proposal through completion
- Plan and direct drilling, sampling, and subsurface investigation programs
- Interpret subsurface conditions and develop foundation recommendations
- Perform and review analyses including:
- Settlement and bearing capacity
- Slope stability
- Earth retention systems
- Ground improvement solutions
- Prepare and review detailed geotechnical reports and technical documentation
- Oversee laboratory testing and field operations to ensure quality and consistency
- Review CMT data for QA/QC compliance and support forensic investigations when required
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining schedule, budget, and technical standards
- Mentor junior engineers and field staff, providing technical oversight and development
- Collaborate with internal civil, structural, and CMT teams for integrated delivery
- Support business development through client engagement, proposals, and technical input
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's preferred)
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain in Alabama
- 8-12+ years of geotechnical consulting experience
- Strong expertise in:
- Site investigations
- Foundation design
- Geotechnical analysis and reporting
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment
- Proven project management and technical leadership capability
- Strong communication skills with client-facing experience
