Overview
The Technical Services Manager oversees the review and conversion of incoming technical design information into accurate, production‑ready documentation. This role acts as a bridge between engineering, operations, quality, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution, technical accuracy, and successful project delivery.


Core Responsibilities - Technical Services

  • Manage and maintain all technical documentation and support activities related to engineered assemblies and equipment.
  • Review drawings, validate bill of materials, and create clear fabrication and assembly instructions.
  • Establish standards for documentation, process flows, and quality checkpoints.
  • Work closely with production, quality, and project teams to ensure accurate, timely builds.
  • Mentor technical staff and support development of junior team members.
  • Investigate technical issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and technical development of future team members.

Core Responsibilities - Project Execution

  • Under operational leadership, manage day‑to‑day coordination of assigned projects of varying scale, ensuring alignment on scope, schedule, and financial objectives (ranges removed for confidentiality).
  • Review and interpret technical documentation, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure project teams understand deliverables, obligations, workflows, and documentation standards.
  • Support consistent practices for RFIs, submittals, change requests, status updates, and other project documentation.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external schedules; track progress and identify risks or deviations.
  • Oversee purchasing activities and coordination with external partners or subcontractors.
  • Prepare cost considerations for scope adjustments and support approval of changes.
  • Monitor budget performance, forecasting, scope changes, and progress updates for stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant technical requirements, codes, and standards.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field (preferred).
  • Associate degree with relevant experience also considered.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PE, PMP) are beneficial but not required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational ability.
  • Effective communication and leadership across cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
  • Comfortable in collaborative, process‑driven environments.
  • Experience in technical operations such as equipment design, assembly support, controls/automation, utilities, or related fields.
  • 5-7+ years of relevant experience in technical services, operations, engineered products, project execution, quality, or similar environments.
