Controls Engineering Supervisor
Overview
This role leads the delivery, maintenance, and advancement of an organization's controls and automation environment - including hardware, software, networking, and field‑level systems. The supervisor acts as the primary technical authority for automation systems, ensuring equipment reliability, supporting operations, and driving continuous improvement across all control platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full controls ecosystem: code base, hardware, software, networking, and related technology.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving PLCs, controllers, VFDs, networks, electrical controls, and automation software.
- Plan and execute upgrades to controls hardware, networks, HMIs, and programming environments.
- Maintain structured processes for deployment, version control, and integration of field technologies.
- Ensure the control system architecture supports current operations and future scalability.
- Establish and maintain best‑practice standards for automation technology.
- Stay current on emerging control‑system trends, programming standards, and hardware innovations.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the field automation/controls team based on workload and business strategy.
- Coordinate and oversee internal projects and support activities within the controls team.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external automation and integration partners.
- Provide hands‑on technical support to sustain high equipment uptime.
- Promote a technology‑driven culture that improves operational efficiency and digital readiness.
- Educate internal stakeholders on the company's automation capabilities and system usage.
- Collaborate with vendors and partners on technology deployments and R&D initiatives.
- Travel to field sites for operational support, stakeholder discussions, or system rollouts.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation to support 24/7 operational needs.
- Follow all safety policies, contribute to safety programs, and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties that support business continuity and operational success.
Requirements
- Ability to pass background, drug testing, and any technical or aptitude assessments.
- Fluent in spoken English.
- Reliable, in‑person attendance.
- Valid U.S. driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Education & Experience
- 10+ years in controls, automation, or electrical systems OR
7+ years with a related degree (Electrical, Controls, Automation Technology, Engineering Tech).s. - Familiarity with Siemens control platforms preferred.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, controls drawings, and network diagrams.

- Proven success delivering multiple automation projects simultaneously.
- Deep understanding of control systems, programming languages (including SCL), industrial networking, and modern controls hardware.
