Denver Senior Electrical Engineer - Industrials

Position Overview
We are seeking a Lead Power Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership on complex electrical infrastructure projects supporting utility, industrial, water/wastewater, transportation, and mission-critical facilities. This role focuses on advanced power system analysis, electrical distribution design, medium-voltage infrastructure, and project leadership across a diverse portfolio of critical infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate has strong experience performing power system studies, leading technical efforts, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and innovative electrical solutions. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects throughout Colorado and the Mountain West while helping mentor junior engineers and support the continued growth of a highly respected engineering practice.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead and review complex power system studies and electrical engineering analyses.
- Serve as a technical resource for electrical distribution systems, power system modeling, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Provide technical oversight and quality reviews of engineering designs, calculations, reports, and specifications.
- Support electrical design decisions and ensure technical excellence across projects.
Power System Analysis
- Perform and oversee short-circuit, load flow, arc-flash, coordination, and system reliability studies.
- Evaluate electrical infrastructure and develop recommendations to improve system performance and safety.
- Support planning, modernization, and expansion of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems.
- Assist with long-term infrastructure planning and system capacity evaluations.
Project Leadership & Client Support
- Serve as an electrical lead or project manager on multiple concurrent assignments.
- Coordinate efforts with clients, project stakeholders, and internal engineering teams.
- Participate in proposal development, project pursuits, and technical business development activities.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and project teams.
Team Development
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
- Contribute to technical standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across project teams.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification required.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems analysis, electrical distribution design, or electrical infrastructure projects.
- Experience supporting power system studies and electrical distribution projects.
- Strong knowledge of medium-voltage systems, protection systems, and electrical design principles.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities effectively.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting water/wastewater, industrial, utility, transportation, or mission-critical facilities.
- Experience with substations, switchgear, transformers, standby generation systems, and medium-voltage distribution systems.
- Proficiency with SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower, CYME, EDSA, Milsoft, or similar power system analysis software.
- Familiarity with applicable standards including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NESC, and UFC.
- Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewable energy integration, distributed generation, or microgrids.
- Experience conducting arc-flash, coordination, short-circuit, and load flow studies.
- Background preparing technical reports, engineering studies, standards, and client presentations.
- Previous experience serving as a technical lead or project manager.

- Advanced understanding of power system analysis and electrical engineering principles.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to lead technical reviews and engineering evaluations.
- Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software platforms.

- Hybrid work schedule based in Denver, Colorado.

Compensation & Benefits
