Overview
A highly respected, employee-owned design firm is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead its national engineering discipline, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage systems.
This is a strategic leadership role focused on driving technical excellence, operational performance, and team development across a diverse portfolio of projects that support healthcare, education, and research environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of national engineering operations, including staffing, project delivery, and financial performance
- Lead and develop Engineering Leaders, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture
- Ensure consistent execution of project delivery standards to drive quality, client satisfaction, and profitability
- Align team capacity with project demand, optimizing utilization, revenue, and growth
- Partner with executive leadership to identify hiring needs and build a strong talent pipeline
- Mentor and develop staff, supporting career progression and organizational success
- Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 15+ years of experience in the A/E industry, including leadership of engineering teams or disciplines
- Strong business acumen with experience managing utilization, financial performance, and project delivery
- Proven ability to build, lead, and scale high-performing teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Collaborative leadership style with a strong sense of ownership
