Remote - Transmission Line & Distribution Supervisor
Overview
A boutique engineering firm is seeking a Transmission Line/Distribution Engineering Supervisor and/or Manager to support transmission and distribution projects. This role combines technical design work with team leadership and client collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of transmission and/or distribution engineers
- Perform and review overhead line design using PLS-CADD and related tools
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers
- Collaborate with utility clients on design and upgrade projects
- Support proposals and new project pursuits
- Improve engineering processes and workflows
- Conduct site visits and field assessments (up to 15% travel)
- Ensure compliance with NESC and client standards
- Verify clearances and structural integrity
- Prepare construction drawings and record documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience with overhead transmission and/or distribution line design
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain within one year
- Experience with PLS-CADD (PLS-POLE / PLS-TOWER a plus)
- Prior experience leading projects or mentoring engineers
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Excel and engineering documentation
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel
Preferred Experience
- Background in transmission, distribution, substation, or power delivery
- 3D modeling or advanced CAD experience
- Familiarity with MS Project or Primavera
- Knowledge of electrical and construction safety practices
- Experience in utility or industrial environments
