About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading international engineering and consulting practice specialising in mining, geotechnical, tailings, water and environmental advisory services. Working with some of the world's largest mining companies, they provide technical consulting across the full life cycle of tailings storage facilities (TSFs), from concept and feasibility through to operations, closure and governance. Due to continued growth across Australia, we are seeking an experienced Geotechnical / Tailings Consultant to join the team in either Perth or Brisbane.

The Role

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering complex tailings and mine waste projects across Australia and internationally. The role offers exposure to major mining operations, technical leadership opportunities, and collaboration with globally recognised subject matter experts.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) design, assessment and optimisation
  • Geotechnical investigations and interpretation of field and laboratory data
  • Slope stability, seepage and deformation analysis
  • Dam safety reviews, risk assessments and governance studies
  • Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) and site-based technical support
  • Engineer of Record (EoR) support and operational advisory services
  • Technical due diligence and independent reviews
  • Preparation of feasibility studies, technical reports and client presentations
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to project delivery leadership

About You

We are interested in speaking with professionals who possess:

  • 7-15+ years of experience in geotechnical, tailings, mine waste or dam engineering
  • Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological or Mining Engineering
  • Strong understanding of tailings storage facilities and dam engineering principles
  • Experience in one or more of:
    • TSF design and engineering
    • Geotechnical investigations
    • Dam safety and risk management
    • Closure and rehabilitation studies
    • Construction quality assurance
    • Monitoring and instrumentation programmes
  • Familiarity with industry standards and leading practices, including GISTM
  • Experience using geotechnical analysis and modelling software
  • Strong report writing and client engagement skills
  • Ability and willingness to undertake occasional site travel
