Senior Mechanical Estimator
Our client, a well-established commercial mechanical contracting firm, has engaged us to recruit a Senior HVAC / Mechanical Estimator to lead preconstruction estimating efforts and support future growth. This is a senior role with clear potential to advance into an Estimating Manager or Director position.
The ideal candidate can independently manage the full estimating process, from plan-and-spec bids to early-stage design/build budgeting, while collaborating closely with project management, engineering, and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed HVAC and mechanical estimates (labor, materials, equipment, subs, and general conditions)
- Develop conceptual and design/build budgets using sound technical judgment
- Perform takeoffs for ductwork, piping, and mechanical systems
- Coordinate vendor and subcontractor pricing and evaluate proposals
- Identify constructability issues and value-engineering opportunities
- Support project handoffs and early procurement
Qualifications
- 7+ years of commercial mechanical/HVAC estimating experience
- Strong knowledge of ductwork, HVAC piping (including VRF), and mechanical systems
- Experience with design/build and conceptual estimating
- Proficient with estimating software (Wenduct, FastEST, Trimble, or similar)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
- Interest or experience in estimating leadership
