Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead field survey crews and support a variety of land development and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, leading a team, and ensuring high-quality data collection and project execution.

The Party Chief will be responsible for managing field operations, coordinating with office staff, and ensuring all survey work is completed accurately, safely, and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise survey field crews on a variety of projects
  • Conduct boundary, topographic, construction stakeout, and ALTA/NSPS surveys
  • Operate survey equipment including GPS, total stations, and data collectors
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of field data collected
  • Coordinate daily activities with project managers and office staff
  • Review plans, deeds, and specifications prior to fieldwork
  • Maintain and care for survey equipment and vehicles
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures
  • Train and mentor junior field staff as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of land surveying field experience
  • Prior experience as a Party Chief or Crew Chief
  • Strong knowledge of survey practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Experience with boundary, topographic, and construction surveys
  • Ability to read and interpret plats, plans, and legal descriptions
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CAD or survey processing software
  • Experience working on land development or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of local/state survey standards and regulations
  • Survey certification (CST or similar) a plus
