Position Overview
This Technical Sales role will play a crucial part in supporting the growth and expansion of my client's business within strategic sectors, with a particular focus on large, global, multi-site, multi-region industrial manufacturing customers.
Reporting to the Sales Manager, the role is responsible for executing sales and business development activities related to tenders, large projects, special projects, and consultancy engagements. The position requires a proactive, commercially focused, hands-on approach to leading sales efforts, building client relationships, and co-creating tailored solutions that address sustainability, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation needs.
As part of a collaborative team, this role will be instrumental in executing business strategies, meeting or exceeding sales targets, and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability and growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Business / Commercial / Financial Success
- Develop and maintain strong, sustainable relationships with potential and existing clients, identifying new business opportunities and managing customer accounts
- Collaborate with business development and operations teams to deliver solutions aligned with client sustainability, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation objectives
- Leverage technology and process improvements to optimise financial performance and drive profitable outcomes
Market Understanding
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry analysis to stay ahead of emerging opportunities and challenges
- Attend industry events and network with customers and suppliers to understand customer needs and available technologies/solutions
- Support ongoing business expansion by identifying opportunities to grow and innovate within the energy management sector
- Generate and maintain technical sales content for my client
Sales & Client Engagement
- Drive solution-selling by co-creating customised energy management strategies with clients, ensuring solutions meet client-specific requirements and objectives
- Support securing long-term contracts and expanding my client's portfolio of clients
- Review tender packages and develop commercial and value-add strategies
- Prepare and submit professional proposals, quotations, tenders, and case studies, clearly articulating my client's value proposition
- Develop pricing and risk assessment frameworks
- Present to senior executives and decision-makers, influencing stakeholders and managing technical influencers
- Monitor and track the technical evolution of projects to ensure sold solutions remain intact
Team Collaboration & Growth
- Work closely with business development and operations teams to ensure seamless project delivery and client satisfaction
- Support operations project charter sessions with a professional and actionable handover
- Contribute to scaling the business, supporting the delivery of large deals and managing the growing demands of global clients
Market Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Continuously gather insights on market trends, industry developments, and emerging energy management technologies to inform strategy
- Present at conferences and events to increase brand awareness and deliver technical content to customers
- Support marketing and technical publications and posts
- Innovate within the consultancy services market to identify new growth opportunities, ensuring my client remains at the forefront of energy efficiency and sustainability
Qualifications / Experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related discipline. MBA or advanced qualifications are a plus.
Professional Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' proven experience within consultancy services, delivering large-scale projects in Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
Industry Knowledge:
Strong understanding of energy management, sustainability, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation solutions in industrial environments.
Presentation & Proposal Writing:
Experience preparing professional proposals, tenders, and case studies, with the ability to present effectively at senior executive level.
Travel:
Willingness to travel globally as required to meet clients and support business development activities.
