We are working with a nationally recognized employee-owned engineering, planning, and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Traffic/Transportation Practice Leader to help grow and lead its transportation services across Michigan. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for an experienced transportation engineer who enjoys building teams, developing client relationships, and leading complex transportation projects while helping shape the future direction of a growing practice.

You'll work alongside an established national transportation team while leading efforts throughout Michigan, supporting public agencies, private developers, institutions, and infrastructure clients across the state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the growth and strategic development of the transportation and traffic engineering practice throughout Michigan.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop transportation engineering staff while helping build a strong regional team.
  • Develop relationships with municipalities, counties, state agencies, developers, and infrastructure clients.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities while expanding services with existing clients.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of traffic impact studies, transportation planning studies, corridor analyses, roadway access evaluations, parking studies, and permitting efforts.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring successful delivery of scope, budget, and schedule objectives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil engineering, land development, environmental, and planning professionals.
  • Lead proposal development, client presentations, public meetings, and business development initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and provide technical oversight on transportation engineering projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in transportation engineering, traffic engineering, or transportation planning.
  • Strong background in traffic impact analysis, access management, traffic operations, roadway design coordination, and transportation permitting.
  • Experience working with MDOT, county road commissions, municipalities, and other transportation agencies within Michigan.
  • Proven ability to develop client relationships and win work.
  • Experience managing teams, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to strategic growth initiatives.
  • Strong technical knowledge of transportation analysis software such as Synchro, HCM, and ITE methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
