Transportation Planner Client Lead
A nationally recognized engineering, planning, and consulting firm is seeking a Transportation Planning Client Lead to join its Arizona transportation team. This leadership position is focused on driving business development, strengthening client relationships, and expanding transportation planning services throughout Arizona.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong network within Arizona's transportation market, experience working with public-sector agencies, and a proven ability to develop and win transportation planning projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts and identify new opportunities within Arizona's transportation market.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key transportation clients, including state, regional, county, and municipal agencies.
- Create and execute strategic capture plans for major pursuits and growth initiatives.
- Partner with project managers, technical experts, and leadership teams to develop winning proposals and presentations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and provide exceptional client service throughout project delivery.
- Support strategic growth initiatives throughout Arizona and the broader Western U.S. region.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight on high-profile transportation planning projects when needed.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations.
- Mentor staff and contribute to a collaborative, growth-focused culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience within transportation planning, transportation engineering, or related consulting services.
- Proven business development experience within Arizona's transportation market.
- Strong relationships with public-sector transportation clients, including ADOT, MPOs, counties, municipalities, and regional transportation agencies.
- Experience developing and winning professional services contracts.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE), AICP, PTOE, or other relevant transportation-related certification.
- Experience with transportation planning, traffic engineering, transit, corridor studies, aviation, NEPA, or feasibility studies.
- Established network of transportation industry contacts throughout Arizona.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and major strategic pursuits.
