Job Overview
An innovative technology company is hiring an experienced Applications Engineer to support the adoption and integration of its advanced membrane solutions, with a focus on food processing and specialty applications. The engineer will act as both a technical expert and a customer-facing advisor, guiding system design, implementation, and ongoing product support.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in crossflow (tangential flow) filtration, especially with spiral wound RO and UF membranes, and experience integrating membrane systems into food and bioprocessing environments. Specific expertise in dairy applications is highly desired. Candidates should also be comfortable supporting wastewater and industrial process water projects.
Success in this role requires the ability to balance multiple priorities, collaborate across teams, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly. A passion for membrane technology and enthusiasm for working with early-adopter customers is key.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as a subject matter expert on membrane integration for food, beverage, and industrial applications.
* Collaborate with sales teams to assess project feasibility and manage technical risks.
* Deliver post-sale technical support, including troubleshooting and on-site visits.
* Develop system design and cost proposals for customer applications.
* Create technical documentation and training materials for OEMs and end users.
* Support internal R&D efforts by contributing data and insights on product performance.
Qualifications:
* Degree in chemical, environmental, or mechanical engineering preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
* 5+ years in applications engineering, with hands-on experience in crossflow membrane systems.
* Strong knowledge of membrane system design in food processing settings.
* Familiarity with commercial RO/NF/UF membrane products.
* Effective communication and presentation skills, including comfort with public speaking.
Other Details:
* Location: On-site (Woburn, MA) or remote within the U.S. for highly qualified candidates.
* Travel: Up to 25%, primarily short-duration trips for customer visits and industry events.
* Compensation: $100,000K-$140,000K base salary, plus equity and benefits.
