Role Overview

The Assistant Superintendent supports on-site delivery of construction projects, helping manage daily field operations including planning, coordination, scheduling, and quality control. This role works closely with the Project Manager to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong working understanding of contract documents, drawings, specifications, and subcontract scopes, and help implement effective site procedures for execution.
  • Assist in establishing and enforcing quality control standards in line with project requirements.
  • Review project budgets and estimates to help ensure work is performed within approved cost parameters.
  • Support development of construction plans covering sequencing, site logistics, equipment, labor needs, and temporary services, in coordination with project leadership.
  • Prepare, manage, and update detailed trade and area schedules, aligning milestones with the overall project program.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies and support follow-up actions required by inspection reports.
  • Support site labor management and assist with labor relations matters as needed.
  • Prepare reports for job meetings and actively participate in project coordination meetings.
  • Assist with reviewing monthly progress quantities, payrolls, invoices, and other project-related cost documentation.
  • Support preparation and processing of monthly project billing and requisitions, coordinating approvals where required.
  • Actively promote and comply with all site safety policies and procedures.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required by project or regional operational needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or comparable hands-on experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of building construction experience (6+ years for a Superintendent-level role), with a background in interior construction required.
  • Solid understanding of construction costs, scheduling, surveying basics, estimating, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, installation practices, and acceptable tolerances.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours as required by project demands, including early starts, late finishes, night work, shutdowns, and specialty operations.
  • Willingness to work across New Jersey and New York City as project needs dictate.
