About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Control Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership across Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and software integration projects within mission-critical environments.
This role combines advanced engineering expertise with team leadership and project delivery responsibility. You will lead complex design efforts, guide multidisciplinary teams, and serve as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and consistent automation solutions.

A U.S.-based automation and systems integration contractor delivering turnkey BAS and EPMS solutions for hyperscale data centers and mission-critical facilities. The organization operates as a Master Systems Integrator (MSI), combining controls engineering, software development, and program-level standardization to deliver complex integrations with speed, consistency, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Design
- Serve as technical lead and subject matter expert (SME) for BAS and EPMS on assigned projects or programs
- Develop client standards, Basis of Design (BOD), and automation roadmaps
- Design and lead integration of DDC and PLC-based control systems
- Define system and network architectures, including IT/OT considerations
- Develop and review:
- Sequences of operation
- System diagrams
- Points and alarm lists
- Specifications and submittal packages
- Select and specify instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and field devices
- Coordinate with equipment vendors and client stakeholders on integration requirements
- Provide direction to BIM/Revit/AutoCAD design resources
Project Delivery & Construction Support
- Lead BAS-related construction documentation and submittal deliverables
- Support construction and commissioning teams throughout project execution
- Conduct design reviews, QA/QC processes, and technical workshops
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and oversee engineering scope execution
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as primary technical interface for clients on control system design and execution
- Collaborate with IT teams on networking, cybersecurity, and system integration strategies
- Provide guidance on feasibility, performance, and system optimization
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering team members
- Assign and delegate tasks across project teams
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and career development planning
- Support hiring and team expansion initiatives
- Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Reporting & Operations
- Track project progress, deliverables, and resource allocation
- Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure work is delivered on schedule and within budget
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of experience in BAS/EPMS design, with significant exposure to mission-critical environments
- Strong expertise in:
- DDC and PLC-based control systems
- HVAC systems and central plant control strategies
- BAS and EPMS integration
- Proven experience leading projects, teams, and client engagements
- Strong knowledge of construction design processes and documentation standards
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred
- Experience in hyperscale or colocation data center environments
- Familiarity with smart building technologies and IoT integrations
- Experience working with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM workflows
- Advanced understanding of networking (LAN/WAN, VLANs, switches, routers)
- Experience with OT protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, and MQTT
- Strong interest in leveraging emerging technologies and automation tools

- Remote role within the United States
- Up to 20% travel to project sites, client meetings, and industry events
