Consulting Engineer - Building Envelope

Our client is a nationally recognized engineering and building consulting firm known for tackling complex challenges across structures, building enclosures, diagnostics, restoration, and forensic engineering. They are seeking a licensed Building Envelope Consultant to join their Tampa office and lead projects involving investigations, assessments, repair design, and construction administration for existing buildings.

This opportunity is ideal for a PE or RA who enjoys a mix of field investigations, client interaction, technical problem-solving, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage small to mid-sized building envelope and restoration projects.
• Investigate and diagnose building enclosure failures and performance issues.
• Perform field assessments of roofing, waterproofing, wall cladding, curtain wall, window, skylight, and plaza deck systems.
• Conduct water intrusion testing and building enclosure evaluations.
• Develop repair and rehabilitation designs for existing building systems.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
• Provide construction administration and contractor support throughout project delivery.
• Review plans, specifications, and building enclosure details.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and development teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and consultants.
• Support expert witness and litigation support assignments when required.
• Maintain and develop client relationships and industry involvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Architecture.
• PE or RA license required.
• 5+ years of experience in building envelope consulting, restoration, architecture, engineering, or construction management.
• Strong knowledge of building enclosure systems including:
  • Roofing
  • Waterproofing
  • Building facades
  • Curtain walls
  • Windows and glazing systems
  • Plaza deck systems
• Experience conducting field investigations and condition assessments.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work at heights, access project sites, and travel as required.
