Location: Jeffersonville, IN
Position Summary
The CAD Technician is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed drawings to support civil engineering, surveying, transportation, and infrastructure projects. This role works closely with engineers, surveyors, and project managers to develop construction documents, plans, and technical drawings using industry-standard CAD software.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings for civil engineering and land surveying projects
- Produce plan sets for site development, roadway design, utilities, and infrastructure improvements
- Assist with topographic mapping, boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and construction staking plans
- Process field data from survey crews and translate it into design-ready drawings
- Utilize software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D to generate surfaces, alignments, profiles, and grading layouts
- Maintain drawing standards, layer management, and file organization in accordance with company and client requirements
- Coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure design accuracy and completeness
- Revise drawings based on redlines, markups, and project changes
- Assist in quantity calculations, exhibits, and technical documentation as needed
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and DOT standards for drafting and design
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
- 1-5+ years of experience in CAD drafting within civil engineering or surveying
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Ability to interpret engineering plans, survey data, and legal descriptions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Good communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with transportation, municipal, or site development projects
- Familiarity with survey workflows and data processing
- Knowledge of DOT standards (Indiana or surrounding states)
- Experience with MicroStation, GIS, or reality capture tools is a plus
