Role Overview
The CAD/BIM Specialist will play a critical role in developing and managing structural BIM models, ensuring seamless coordination across disciplines, and producing high-quality construction documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in structural systems and a proven track record of supporting large-scale projects from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
Modeling & Documentation
- Create and maintain detailed Revit models for structural components (steel, concrete, foundations).
- Prepare accurate construction documents, shop drawings, and fabrication details.
- Ensure compliance with client BIM standards, project requirements, and industry best practices.
Coordination
- Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, and MEP teams to resolve design conflicts.
- Participate in clash detection and coordination meetings using Navisworks and BIM 360.
- Manage linked models and shared parameters for multi-disciplinary integration.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular audits of BIM models for accuracy and completeness.
- Implement QA/QC procedures for drawing sets and digital deliverables.
Leadership & Support
- Mentor junior CAD/BIM staff and provide technical guidance.
- Assist in developing BIM execution plans, templates, and workflows.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Experience: 8-10 years in CAD/BIM roles within structural engineering firms.
- Software Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (Structural).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM 360.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of structural systems and detailing.
- Familiarity with construction sequencing and shop drawing preparation.
- Standards & Codes:
- Knowledge of industry BIM standards (ISO 19650, AIA protocols).
- Understanding of relevant building codes and structural detailing practices.
