Retail Architecture Project Manager (Hybrid - New York)
Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000
A design-focused architecture practice is seeking a Retail Architecture Project Manager to join its team, based in either the New York office. This role is responsible for leading project teams across the full lifecycle of architectural projects, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, schedule, and overall work plan. Projects are confidential in nature and require a high level of professionalism and discretion.

What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and support junior staff to drive successful project outcomes and professional growth
- Assign responsibilities based on team strengths and project needs while offering technical leadership and creative problem-solving
- Act as the primary client liaison, maintaining clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, consultants, and permitting authorities
- Manage project deliverables, budgets, and coordination across disciplines including structural, MEP, and civil
- Oversee quality assurance for construction documentation
- Lead project meetings, including internal coordination and external discussions with clients and permitting agencies
- Guide responses to plan review comments and scope or design changes
- Provide construction administration support, including site visits, RFIs, submittals, and contractor coordination
- Forecast staffing, revenue, and resource requirements while supporting billing, invoicing, and collections
- Track project performance and provide regular updates to leadership
- Contribute to proposals, contracts, team evaluations, and hiring efforts
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
- Licensed Architect or actively pursuing licensure preferred; LEED accreditation is a plus
- Proven experience managing retail projects from concept through construction across confidential client programs
- Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, materials, codes, and accessibility standards
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities
- Willingness to travel as needed
Experience With
- Retail architecture, including prototype rollout, custom detailing, and space planning
- Managing confidential client relationships and identifying opportunities for expanded services
- Coordinating with consultants, contractors, and authorities to manage scope, schedule, and documentation
- Improving production workflows and delivering high-quality work on time and within budget
- Resource planning, staffing forecasts, and utilization tracking
- Revit, Bluebeam, SketchUp, Photoshop
