Design Engineer (Pavements) - Australia
We are currently working with an innovative consultancy who are expanding their team and looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pavement Design Engineer, The role will be responsible for leading and delivering pavement design solutions for major infrastructure projects across Australia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanistic pavement design, extensive experience using CIRCLY software, and a proven track record of working on Australian road and transport projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of flexible and rigid pavements for highways, urban roads, airports, and industrial facilities.
- Perform mechanistic pavement design using CIRCLY in accordance with Austroads guidelines and local specifications.
- Conduct pavement investigations, material assessments, and life-cycle cost analyses.
- Prepare detailed design reports, technical specifications, and tender documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, structural, and transport engineers.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and government agencies to ensure project requirements are met.
- Support business development activities through proposal writing and client engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in pavement design, with a focus on Australian infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in CIRCLY and other relevant pavement design tools (e.g., HDM-4, MX Road, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of Austroads pavement design guidelines, local authority standards, and construction practices.
- Experience in field investigations, laboratory testing interpretation, and material selection.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Chartered Engineer status (CPEng) or eligibility is highly desirable.
