Director of Environmental Engineering

This leadership position will oversee a team of engineers and scientists working on nature-based solutions, habitat restoration, climate adaptation, and water infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic and technical leadership for engineering components of ecological restoration, watershed management, and climate-resilient infrastructure projects
Oversee multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with restoration ecologists, landscape architects, and biologists
Drive project scoping, budgeting, and quality control while maintaining client satisfaction and regulatory compliance
Mentor junior and mid-level engineering staff and contribute to team-building and organizational growth
Support proposal development and foster long-term client relationships in public, nonprofit, and private sectors
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering (or related field)
12+ years of professional experience in environmental or water resources engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership or management role
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in California, or ability to obtain within 6 months
Strong foundation in ecological restoration design, stream and wetland restoration, flood management, or natural infrastructure
Proven ability to lead complex, interdisciplinary projects from concept through implementation
Excellent communication, project management, and team leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with California regulatory permitting (Clean Water Act, CEQA, ESA)
Familiarity with Bay Area watersheds, flood control districts, or coastal ecosystems
Prior experience collaborating with landscape architects and environmental scientists
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $160,000 - $200,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
