Position Overview:
A leading engineering firm is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Traffic to oversee traffic operations, engineering design, and mobility planning in the San Antonio region. This leadership role is ideal for a results-driven professional with a passion for improving transportation systems and enhancing public safety through innovative traffic solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the firm's traffic engineering division, including project planning, signal design, traffic studies, and ITS implementation.
- Manage a team of engineers, planners, and technical staff to deliver high-quality traffic solutions for public and private sector clients.
- Develop and oversee traffic management strategies that align with regional mobility goals and safety standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison with municipal agencies, DOTs, and transportation authorities.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including MUTCD and FHWA guidelines.
- Oversee budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation for traffic-related projects.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
- Represent the firm at public meetings, industry conferences, and client presentations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in traffic engineering, including 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Proficiency in traffic modeling software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM) and CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of traffic signal systems, ITS, and roadway safety principles.
