Engineering Group Manager (Mechanical)
A growing engineering consulting firm is expanding its presence in Florida and is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Group Manager to support a diverse portfolio of building projects. This individual will play a key role in delivering mechanical system designs across a range of sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, public sector, and industrial facilities.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional design teams while taking ownership of technical delivery, client interaction, and project leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and coordination of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection
- Serve as project lead and technical resource on multi-discipline teams
- Prepare and oversee construction documents, specifications, and engineering calculations
- Perform existing system assessments and develop recommendations for upgrades or replacements
- Utilize Revit and AutoCAD to produce and review design documentation
- Conduct site visits and field observations to support construction and commissioning phases
- Interface directly with clients, project managers, and external partners
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
- Provide mentorship and direction to junior engineering staff
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices
- Contribute to client development efforts and support long-term growth initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain)
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for building systems
- Strong proficiency in Revit; experience with AutoCAD preferred
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE) and building codes
- Experience delivering projects within Florida or similar regulatory environments
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment (in-office collaboration required multiple days per week)
- Willingness to travel periodically for project and client needs
- Valid driver's license
