Senior Roadway Design Engineer (PE)

Position Summary
We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to lead the planning, design, and delivery of municipal transportation infrastructure projects throughout Fort Worth and surrounding communities. This role will focus on roadway, paving, drainage, intersection, and capital improvement projects for municipal clients, with significant involvement in the City of Fort Worth's Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
The ideal candidate will have experience managing municipal roadway projects, coordinating directly with public agency clients, and mentoring junior engineers while serving as a technical leader within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as project engineer and design lead on municipal roadway and infrastructure projects.
- Lead the preparation of roadway design plans, profiles, alignments, cross sections, specifications, and construction documents.
- Manage roadway reconstruction, street widening, intersection improvements, complete streets, and multimodal transportation projects.
- Oversee paving and drainage design, utility coordination, ADA compliance, and permitting efforts.
- Prepare and review PS&E packages, engineering reports, cost estimates, and technical memorandums.
- Coordinate directly with City of Fort Worth staff, public works departments, utility agencies, and stakeholders.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while ensuring quality standards are met.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to EITs and junior design staff.
- Attend client meetings, design review meetings, and public presentations as needed.
- Sign and seal engineering documents in accordance with Texas Board requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 5+ years of roadway design experience with municipal infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing projects for municipalities and local government agencies.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, and/or MicroStation.
- Strong understanding of municipal roadway design criteria, drainage design, utility coordination, and PS&E development.
- Experience overseeing project delivery from concept through construction.
- Strong communication, leadership, and client management skills.
